With its tall, spiny stems and toothed, thorny leaves, the milk thistle hardly looks inviting. But this plant has been used for hundreds of years as a remedy to various health issues.
Native to the Mediterranean regions of North Africa, Europe and the Middle East, milk thistle is now found throughout the world, including North America. Two species are classified under the milk thistle: the silver milk thistle, or ivory thistle, and the blessed milk thistle. Milk thistle extract is one of Protandim's five ingredients. You may see this plant in fields or in forests. And you may be surprised what possible benefits come from it.
For centuries, the milk thistle has been referred to as "liver tonics." Studies of the plant's medical uses have been conducted since the 1970s in many countries. And though these studies have been uneven, the plant has been reported to have protective effects on the liver.
Studies are still under way regarding the effects of milk thistle on the liver. If you or your child has liver problems, consult you physician. Also, women who are pregnant or nursing should not take milk thistle on its own.

to marshy areas of India and now found throughout the tropic and
subtropical areas of the world grows the 4-inch-tall, 2-foot-wide
bacopa plant. The plant's long stems are covered in tiny, pristine
five-petal flowers. This beautiful, easy-to-grow plant has recently
become popular among gardeners.
But what is found within the bacopa may be even more
If you find yourself easily forgetting names, dates, places or
facts, bacopa may be a remedy to consider.
Bacopa extract, one of the five main ingredients of Protandim,
has been long hailed for its ability to enhance cognitive
abilities. Bacopa has been important in Indian medicine for
centuries, used chiefly to enhance clear thinking and memory
function. Studies suggest it provides strong antioxidant defense
against stress on the brain. It is also used to improve
concentration, alertness and focus.
Other claims show that bacopa may aid in staving off depression
Bacopa is also a free radical scavenger and protects against the
free radical effect on DNA.
As with all Protandim ingredients, the antioxidant capabilities
of bacopa are much weaker on their own than when combined with the
other components to form Protandim.
